26% of European doctors have iPad and use it for business purposes, according to a study of Manhattan Research. The device dominates the workplace (55%), but a quarter of the time doctors on the Internet falls on Apple’s tablet. The share of smartphones is 18%.
Almost half of doctors who do not yet have a tablet PC, plans to acquire one in the next 6 months. Currently tablets are used most often to search for information on the Internet, watching videos and gathering information for patients, the study also found.
The high popularity of the iPad among physicians suggests development of specialized software. Some major medical companies began to produce their own applications that exploit the capabilities of the tablet.
