iMessage is one of the most used apps on iOS devices. Basically, Apple’s messaging platform allows you to send and receive messages, videos and much more. With the release of iOS 10, iMessage has seen a big change and improvement, making it much easier for users to communicate through Apple devices.
Like other social messaging apps out there, iMessage allows you to see if the recipient has read your message. Basically, you should see a “Read” text located under your message. Read receipt may be a great feature, but at times it may become a cause of annoyance.
If you want to read messages without the sender knowing that you saw it in iMessage, we believe that we can help you out.
In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the steps to turn off read receipts in iMessage on your iPhone.
Steps to turn off read receipts in iMessage on your iPhone
Step one: First off, you need to head to Settings from your home screen and then tap on Messages to proceed
Step two: Once you are in, you will notice that the switch next to Send Read Receipts is now turned on. All you need to do is to tap on the switch to disable the feature.
Once you are done, you will no longer view the read receipts from other people. You also can read messages without the sender knowing that you saw it.
If you now own an iPhone 6s or newer, you can use 3D Touch do the same thing. All you need to do is to perform a 3D Touch firm press on an iMessage thread. Doing so allows you to read new messages without marking them as Read.
