In reality, YouTube aims to play videos, not music. However, there is a simple trick that allows you to play your favorite YouTube videos in the background on your iPhone or iPad. And we will show you how to do that.

In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to play YouTube videos in the background on iPhone or iPad. Before we proceed, make sure that you are now running iOS 9 or newer.

Steps to play YouTube videos in the background on iPhone or iPad (iOS 9 or iOS 10)

Step one: First off, you need to launch the Safari web browser from your home screen. After that, head to youtube.com and select the video you want to play in the background

Step two: Next up, you now need to press the home button and the video will pause automatically. After that, you need to open Control Center on your device. To do this, just swipe up from the bottom of the screen

Step three: Once you are done, you simply need to tap on the Play button and your video will resume in the background.
