Find My iPhone has been around since the days of iOS 5. As the name suggests, the feature allows you to locate your iPhone if it is ever lost or stolen. Besides, Find My iPhone also helps you remotely wipe your private information so your precious data won’t fall into the wrong hands.
Find My iPhone is pretty crucial in emergency situations, so it could be disastrous if it stops working. There could be any reason for why Find My iPhone fails to work properly ranging from issues with internet connection to wrong date settings.
In this article, we have a couple of solutions that help fix Find My iPhone not working issue. Before we get started, make sure that you now have a modern version of iOS.
Make sure that you have already enabled Find My iPhone
Find My iPhone is not enabled by default on your iPhone, so make sure that you keep the switch on all the time. If you are not sure, you can check out the steps below.
Step one: First off, you need to launch the Settings app from your home screen and then hit the Apple ID at the top to proceed
Step two: Next up, tap iCloud and then hit Find My iPhone
Step three: Once you are done, hit the switch to turn on the feature.
Make sure that you keep your device turned on
If your iPhone gets stolen or lost, but you cannot locate your device using Find My iPhone, there is a good chance that someone has already turned it off. Keep in mind that Find My iPhone can only locate a missing device that is turned on.
However, that doesn’t mean that Find My iPhone is completely disabled. It will show your device’s last known location for 24 hours so you still can locate your device.
Your iPhone needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network or a cellular network so that Find My iPhone can track it. This means that you cannot locate your missing device if it cannot connect. Therefore, make sure that your iPhone is connected to a network when it goes missing. If your missing iPhone cannot connect, Find My iPhone will show the device’s last known location for 24 hours.
Incorrect date and time settings may cause Find My iPhone to stop working sometimes. Therefore, make sure you now have the correct date and time on your iPhone. If you are not sure, head to Settings > Date & Time and turn off the switch for Set Automatically.
Make sure that your country is supported
Find My iPhone will display your device’s location on a map. However, this feature is not available in all countries worldwide. So make sure you are now in a supported country.
