How to quickly send and reply with iMessage

In old iOS versions, you needed to slowly tap on your way through apps in order to send and respond to messages. However, you can now quickly respond from any app, and immediately send photos, location, and more with iMessage, thanks to the Messages app and Notification Center.  Here’s how

How to quickly reply to a message from notification center

When you receive a message notification on your iOS device, simply touch and pull down on it.

  • Then, type in your message.
  • Tap on the Send button (it’s an arrow).

That’s all you need! Your message will immediately be sent and you can return to do whatever you are before the message is received.

How to quickly reply to a message from Lock screen

You can easily reply the message directly from the Lock screen just by using 3D Touch or long pressing on the notification. You can also continue the conversation without needing to unlock your phone.

  • When there is a message notification on the Lock screen of your device, firmly press (3D Touch) or press & hold (without 3D Touch) on the notification to see the message view and open up your keyboard.
  • Enter your message.
  • Tap on the Send button (it’s an arrow).

How to quickly send soundbites on your iOS device

If you want to record a voice message or soundbite, you can use Messages to save your thumbs for a future text. Don’t have time to tap away and send a long message to? It’s not a problem as you can record a voice note with the help of Messages, and your friend can receive an audio clip. It saves you the time on long messages. To do so:

  • Open the Messages app on your iOS device
  • Tap on a conversation with the person you want to send a voice to.
  • Simply tap and hold on the microphone icon and start speaking into your device’s microphone.
  • Swipe upward to the quick send button (it’s a message bubble with an arrow inside).

In case you mess up while doing a record, simply swipe your finger to the left instead of upwards for canceling the voice message. All you need is tapping and holding again to start over the recording.
