How to Use Multitasking Feature on iPad Pro 2018

One of the features that many users enjoy the new iPad Pro 2018 is the multitasking feature, which was first introduced in iOS 11 version.

If you’re a newbie to the iPad Pro 2018, you should know how to switch between apps, use great features like Slide Over, Split View, especially the Home button is no longer available on the new iPad Pro. Here is how to use Multitasking features on the new iPad Pro.

How to Access Dock on iPad Pro (2018)

When you are in an app, simply swipe up from the bottom edge to open up the Dock. The Dock can contain up to15 apps. So you can easily add your frequently used apps to the Dock.

Tap on any app from the Dock to switch between them. You don’t need to return to the Home screen or the App Switcher. Instead, the last 3 recently used apps will be displayed in the Dock, which helps you switch to them more easily.

How to Use the App Switcher

Here are 3 ways to engage the App Switcher:

  • First, double tap on the Home button.
  • Swipe up on the screen with four fingers.
  • Swipe up all the way from the bottom to the middle of your iPad screen. This will open up the Dock first and then the App Switcher.

The App Switcher will show the Dock and the recently used apps will run in the back in a grid of 6 with their previews.  Split View app also pairs here.

How to Use Multiple Apps at Once with Floating Slide

The new Slide Over window displays in a floating view, on top of the app that you are using. To do so:

Step 1: Swipe up from the bottom of your iPad screen

Step 2: Tap and hold on an app icon, drag it to the middle and then release your finger.

Step 3: If the app supports Slide Over feature, it will show up in a narrow floating window. Simply tap on the handle at the top and then switch it to the left edge.

Step 4: To remove the app, grab the handle and flick it off from the right edge.

Step 5: To bring Slide Over app back, just swipe in from the right edge of your iPad screen.

How to Use Multiple Apps at Once with Split View

Step 1: once you open an app, simply swipe up from the bottom to open up the Dock.

Step 2: Tap and hold on an app icon and swipe to the left or right edge of your iPad screen. The edge will appear a black border.

Step 3: Go of your finger to drop the app. Two apps are now running side by side.

How to Get Out of The Split View on iPad Pro 2018

If you no longer want to use Split View for an app, all you need is just grabbing the handle in the middle and then swiping all the way to the left or right to remove the other app.
