
Days after the premiere of the iPad it became known characteristics of the processor which underpins the Apple device. Indeed, Apple A4 mysterious chip is not just a processor but a “system chip” (SoC), revealed brightsideofnews.com.
The system includes a multicore processor Cortex-A9 MPCore architecture with ARM, memory controller and graphics chip series ARM Mali 50. The number of nuclei in Apple A4 is not known but it is known that they operate at frequency of 1GHz.
Apple A4 chip was developed by the company PA Semi which is owned by Apple in 2008 after they bought it for $278 million.
